Cousteau’s Grade 9 students completed their five-day internship in a company early February! Part of the French curriculum and counting for the French National Exam “Brevet des collèges”, the internship is a unique opportunity to explore working environment. This enriching first professional experience helps each student to open up their professional horizons and shape their personal project.
Our students have demonstrated their ability to take initiative and responsibility by taking personal steps to find a company and carrying out the tasks assigned during their internship.
They discovered jobs in very different professional areas such as diplomacy (Consulate General of France in Vancouver), law, health, land survey, local shops, interior design and renovation.
Following their job experience, they will write a report and will present it orally to a jury of examiners. This presentation will be assessed for the Brevet des collèges.
In May, the students will prepare for their exam during a one-week Boot-Camp in Tofino, on Vancouver Island, with their teachers!
Early June, the students will sit the exam during two full days in the Lycée International de Calgary for exams in French, Mathematics, Sciences, History and Geography, Civic and Moral Education. A unique experience for Middle schoolers that will prepare them for future exams in high school and university!
The French National Brevet Diploma – taken by all Grade 9 students in France and in French schools abroad – certifies the knowledge and skills mastered at the end of Middle school and indicate the completion of an education in the French system.
