The Webradio, a powerful educational tool

Cousteau School’s webradio, created in 2017, is an educational tool for all students (from Pre-K to Middle school), teachers, and the entire educational community.

Class Projects

In Pre-K and Elementary school
Students participate in recordings related to educational projects: reciting poems, singing, reading aloud for the first time, presenting class projects, etc.
In Middle school
Middle school students use web radio for specific projects such as journalistic interviews or creating podcasts on topics covered in class.

Eco-School Project

The Eco-Committee, made up of Eco-Delegates from each class (from Grade 1 to 9), records monthly Eco-News updates in French and English to be played in each classroom.
The students present current and upcoming Eco-Actions and review the actions carried out by the students and the entire community.

Webradio Club

Around ten volunteer students from Grades 4 to 9 participate in the Webradio club supervised by Nathalie Thibaut-Buffart, librarian and webradio coordinator at the school.

The students learn about documentary research, journalistic writing, reporting, the use of recording equipment, and editing recorded programs. The school is fortunate to have several microphones and portable recorders, as well as audio mixing boards.

Offered during extracurricular time, the webradio club meets once a week in the school library.

Many students dream of a sporting career someday… Meeting Darcy Rota, a former Vancouver professional hockey player, this Thursday, March 15th was a great experience!
