Cousteau School is a non-profit organization in accordance with the laws set forth from 1997. We are an independant school, therefore not part of Conseil scolaire francophone or the North Vancouver School District, but we are accredited by the BC Ministry of Education as well as the France Ministry of Education.

It is managed by a Board of Directors elected by an annual general meeting of parents. The rules are defined by the laws and directives of good governance established by the Association of Independent School of British Columbia which guides the private schools. The Board of Directors of Cousteau School are volunteers that donate time to the school. They are not paid nor do they receive any special financial compensation.

The role of the Board of Directors is:

  • To recruit the Principal -who works under the control of the Board of Directors.
  • To define the strategy and mission of the School.
  • To examine and modify the Rules in order that they comply with the Mission of the School and in alignment with the established directives of the Association of Private Schools of the Province of British Columbia.
  • To supervise the financial operations of the school, in particular, those which involve the management of the capital, the operating budget, fundraising, and capital donations.
