For the first time in its 24-year history, Cousteau French International School is organizing a fundraising campaign for the children targeted by the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The first target was $1,000 easily reached at 102%. Then a higher target was fixed at $1,500, also reached rapidly. The third target is now at $2,000, finally reached at 150%. The project originated from an idea of the Eco-Committee of the School, which includes one delegate per class, at Elementary and Middle School Levels. The students virtually visited the warehouse of the GVFB and met with their volunteers through a Zoom session, and then started to convince all the community of parents and friends of Cousteau to make donations. Students thought this is important as recent statistics show that 1 out of 5 children in BC live in poverty.
