Our independent and secular school is in partnership with the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE) that manages the prestigious network of French schools abroad which includes 495 schools in 137 countries and educates more than 340,000 students.
The approval granted by the French Ministry of Education certifies the compliance of teaching requirements, programs, educational objectives, and regulations of the French education system. This allows all our students to continue their schooling in any other AEFE school abroad without needing to take an entrance exam.
Our elementary school classes meet the criteria of group 2 private schools of British Columbia. The school is regularly accredited by school inspectors and our classes meet the district criteria.
Our guidelines and practices are regularly updated to keep pace with the demands of our respective supervisory bodies as well as major developments in the field of education.
Since April 2019, while preserving our accreditation with the French Ministry of Education, Cousteau has become part of the Mission Laïque Française (MLF) network. The MLF is a not-for-profit organization based in France that promotes French education in more than 100 schools abroad. Through its dedicated North American network, the MLF-America, based in Dallas, Texas, organizes professional development sessions and school activities specially tailored to our bilingual North American context.
