Summer Camps 2021 program

For children enrolled in KG-G.5 in 2020-2021 and children entering G.1-6 in September 2021

Cousteau bilingual summer camps take place inside and outside and incorporate athletic, academic, and creative pursuits.

In addition to exciting programs run by Cousteau’s own talented instructors, we are excited to partner with external providers such as CJ Tennis, Faly Academy, Sportball, Petit Architect, Young Rembrandts, Aspire Learning Academy and Code Ninjas, and professional instructors in cinema, Kung-Fu and tennis.

With CJ Tennis, children will not only learn the fundamentals of tennis, but key life skills and values such as teamwork and respect. They will also be improving their agility, balance and coordination.

Faly Academy is led by French footballers with international professional experience whose passion is to help students achieve their personal best. Focus is on technical aspects of soccer. Widely recognized as one of the premier academies on the North Shore, Faly coaches also highlight the importance of sportsmanship and comportment while on the field.

Sportball methodology is designed to support three key areas of development: sport skills, social skills, and motor skills. Students learn the fundamentals of eight different ball sports in a fun, non-competitive setting.

Petit Architect will run 2 weekly workshops on the themes Architecture Inside/Out and Around the world with Architecture. During the first one, children will explore and create with two-dimensional drawing and three-dimensional model making while learning about the relationship between interior design and architecture. During the second one, children will explore and create with two-dimensional drawing and three-dimensional model making while learning about different traditions and ways of living around the world.

Young Rembrandts will lead drawing workshops whose themes will vary from week to week: Cartoon Adventures In Space Drawing Workshop and Anime Manga Drawing Workshop.

With Aspire Learning Academy, join in our LEGO-rific sessions! Learn building techniques and explore basic engineering concepts through compelling, creative challenges with a daily theme. Castles, underwater and even Ninjago are just a few of the worlds little builders will explore here, while incorporating basic math concepts.

Code Ninjas will run 2 camps, on the themes Makey Makey and Meowbit.
Makey Makey: The children will work on an invention kit designed to connect everyday objects to computer keys. Meowbit is a card-sized graphical retro game computer which allows you coding with Makecode arcade and Python.

Children will be introduced to the history of cinema by making original animated films.
From images they create or from existing images, they will make optical toy films dating from the 19th century to the present day, using both ancient and contemporary techniques. During these workshops, children will make the following optical toys: thaumatrope, mutoscope, magic lantern, hologram, strobotop and praxinoscope.

Kung-Fu To’a is a martial art practiced mainly in Iran. It is a unique style of Kung Fu with Yoga influences focused on a healthier mind and body. It is made up by combination of Northern and Southern styles of Shaolin Kung fu. The children will be introduced to the basis of this martial art.

Cousteau School instructors possess either an Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate or an Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) certificate and are experienced educators who work with Cousteau students throughout the school year.
